Rare Auld Single Grain Scotch Whisky

GRAIN

Invergordon distillery was established by Invergordon Distillers Ltd in 1961 and is the only grain distillery in the Highlands. A second pair of Coffey stills were added in 1963 and in 1978 another larger coffey still was installed. ‘Ben Wyvis’ malt distillery was built within the Invergordon grain distillery complex in 1965 and closed in 1977.

Tasting Notes

Bottling: Duncan Taylor Invergordon 1965 - 38yo Single Grain Scotch Whisky.  
Cask No: 15537.
Colour: Amber.
Nose: Sweet, very creamy with spicy vanilla.
Flavour: Rich dried fruit, fresh wood and spice.
Finish: Sweet and long.
Comments:  Another classic aged grain.

Bottling: Duncan Taylor Invergordon 1965 - 38yo Single Grain Scotch Whisky.  
Cask No: 15506.
Colour: Amber.
Nose: Oranges, dessert wine and creamy.
Flavour: Cinammon, oranges and wood - humbugs.
Finish: Fresh and fruity and sweet.
Comments:  Once again fails to disappoint - a stunner.

Colour: Light amber.
Nose: Oranges and syrup, oily.
Flavour: Sweet, creamy with a citrus edge.
Finish: Fresh and fruity and sweet.
Comments:  Another stunning Invergordon.

Colour: Straw.
Nose: Vanilla fudge, caramac bars - slightly floral.
Flavour: Spicy, nutmeg? Sweet, huge bourbon influence.
Finish: Long and spicy without water!
Comments:  Simply stunning.

Bottling: Duncan Taylor Invergordon 1965 - 39yo Single Grain Scotch Whisky.  
Cask No: 15509.
Colour: Rich Amber.
Nose: Rich, oily maizy, sweet and bitter creaminess.
Flavour: A little biscuity. Icing sugar and rich vanilla.
Finish: LLeaves an orangey oiliness and lingering buttery taste.
Comments:  Slightly drier than previous Invergordons but still a cracker.

Colour: Amber.
Nose: Sweet and creamy.
Flavour: Rich vanilla with dried fruits.
Finish: Sweet fresh fruitiness.
